The Best Hybrid Mowers for Green Gardeners: Electric Reel Mowers

| Comments (2)

razorcut-accu-.jpgWant to green that lawn care but these cons outweigh the pros of both electric rotary push mowers and reel mowers?

Ivy at Shakyard and one reader named Indie both feel this way. In fact, Indie brought up a great question about it on a recent post about reel mowers.

She says,

"We bought a reel mower recently and it won't cut some of the weeds. Since our "lawn" is almost entirely weeds, this is a problem. Any ideas? We plan to reseed the lawn, probably in the Fall, but in the meantime our lawn looks cruddy."

Have you ever heard that complaint or, even worse, found yourself in the same boat?

An electric reel mower may be the answer to your green lawn care prayers.

Real Mowers Use Reel Mowers

| Comments (3)

reel-mower.jpgThe reel mower of the 21st century--it definitely ain't your grandad's old rusted out, hard to push, doesn't really work that well thing of the past.

Nope, reel mowers are the cleanest, greenest, most econmically and environmentally savvy way to get that great green and nicely manicured lawn.

As with anything else, there are pros and cons, so let's explore them here and see if a reel mower might your next step towards a better lawn, thicker wallet, and cleaner earth.

Electric Push Mowers: All The Power, None of the Pollutants

| Comments (7)

Before you fire up that gas powered lawn mower tomorrow, think about how much black smoke they spew into the air.

In fact, Just Cause says,

"The EPA estimates that 10% of the nation's air pollution is caused by lawn equipment such as chain saws, lawn mowers, golf carts, blowers and weed whippers. 5% can be contributed to lawn mowers alone."

Electric push mowers are not the wimpy little corded things of years past. They are lawn mowing mega-beasts with an appetite for all varieties of grass (and weeds, in my case) with a much lower level of environmental flatulence.

| Comments (26)

With this coming Wednesday being the first day of Spring, everywhere you look people are calling in sick with a case of "spring fever". What does this also mean? YARD WORK!

Before you run out to the garage and fire up that mower, please allow me to share some information I just learned with you.

"A typical gas powered lawnmower produces as much pollution in 7 hours of operation as a modern car does in a 100,000 miles of driving.", says ThirdDirection.com
