Friday Funny: How NOT To Tell If Your Compost is Ready

Starting your own compost pile is one of the best ways to save money and cut down on the use of harmful chemicals around your home.

You just probably don’t want to check it’s progress the way Chris and Jerry do on The Late Show with David Letterman:

I love that the Late Show shares simple steps to help us live greener while making it look like they’re actually making fun of it.

Rest assured, they’re not.

What they are doing is having FUN with living greener, which we’re obviously big fans of around here at The Fun Times Guide to Living Green. Having FUN beats eco-snobbery any day of the week, in my book.

There are countless ways to start composting. You can go the traditional and utilitarian method of starting a plain old compost pile, make a compost bin out of reclaimed shipping pallets, or even make a spinning double-decker drum composter from reclaimed 55 gallon barrels.

Of course, expensive retail composters can also be purchased at any home improvement store.

Whichever method you choose, check out 7th Generation’s composting guide…it’s one of the best around.

Have a happy weekend…it’d be a great time to get that new composting system started!
