Ok guys, this one is mostly for us.
Raise your hand if you're the one who goes into the stall to avoid the row-o-urinals in public bathrooms.
Don't be shy...wait a tick, is that the reason you use the stall in the first place?
It's true, that shy bladder could be contributing to that carbon footprint in a big way.
No worries though mates, with all the interesting urinals out there, conserving water was never more fun.
Last night I was at a meeting when the 100 ounces of water I strive to drink each day caught up with me.
After finding my way to the bathroom and taking care of business, I glanced down to get everything straightened up. What did I see? Right there on the top of the urinal was the stamp "1.0 gpf"
1 gallon per flush? Not too bad, especially considering your home toilets may consume as much as 3.5 gallons per flush!
We like to talk about simple, fun, and easy ways to conserve and reuse water around here, but this one seems to be a no-brainer for those of us with both the X and the Y chromosomes.
Along with the picture above, here are a couple more examples of interesting urinals you may find yourself standing at one day:
No big deal? You can still use the stall for good ole "number 1" huh?
Let's say the average man uses a public restroom an average of 5 times a day. If he uses a toilet instead of a urinal, he uses an extra and unnecessary 3 gallons of water per day.
That's almost an extra 1100 gallons of water wasted per shy bladder every year.
So if you're looking for something you can do right now to save the Earth (and to conquer those exhibitionist fears) use a urinal instead of a stall.

OK...if real men pee on the wall to save the earth, then why do they pee on the toilet seat and the floor, too? :)
Hey! What about the waterless, flushless urinals that use NO water whatsoever, just a oil based, blue, clean urinal smelling substance in placed in the urinal first and the water-based urine flows under it and down the waste pipe. Only a minor amount of maintenance fluid is applied every week or so. Now THAT'S saving water!!
