Coffee and Art: A Clever Way to Help Local Charities

| Comments (0)

crema-christmas-flyer.jpgSo you want to "give back" during the holiday season but don't have the extra cash spare?

Not a problem.

Follow in the footsteps of CREMA, my favorite indy owned, local, estate coffee serving coffee shop here in Nashville.

The coffee connoisseurs of CREMA wanted to help out a local charity this Christmas, but didn't necessarily want to kill their profit margin either...you know, cuz paying bills and eating is pretty important to small business owners.

Check out how they found a solution that you or your favorite local haunt could duplicate.

In their idea, a deserving family, local artists, a local non-profit, thei rpatrons and their business all win. Can't beat that.

Vegetarian [Vampires] Taste Better...Especially in Twilight

| Comments (2)

vegetarian-twilight-movie.jpgWho knows what tomorrow is?

If you guessed the opening of Twilight, you're right.

If you've been in a cave (or a coffin) and don't know about this movie release, it's your not-so-typical teeny bopper love story movie.

With vampires.

Vegetarian vampires.

One of whom is in love with a mortal.

Who he wants to bite.

One thing is for sure, if Bella IS a vegetarian she would taste a lot better to Edward...and I don't mean her blood.

12 Easy Ways to Green Your Turkey Day

| Comments (0)

turkey-bikini.jpgThe holiday season begins with Thanksgiving...but I'm already seeing more Christmas propaganda than Thanksgiving--geez.

In our society, this is usually a time of excess, though it doesn't have to be.

Be sure to think green as you celebrate Thanksgiving and the harvest.

Here are 12 fun and ridiculously easy tips that I've put into practice as I celebrate the bountiful harvest.

Danger Will Robinson, a Plastic You WEAR May Be Harmful!

#5-plastic-danger.jpgQuick, can you name the plastics that are safe (or at least safer) to use?

#2, #4, and #5.

Woops, may have to scratch out that #5 there.

Everyone knows about the dangers of the evil #7 plastic, but an new discovery was accidently made that shows #5 plastic as possibly a quite dangerous substance.

No big deal right? It's only used for storage tubs and ketchup bottles...

Or is it?

The BEST Reusable Tote Bags: Organic, Recycled, and Made in the US

| Comments (0)

hero-recycled-cotton-messenger-bag.gifWhat if I told you that you can have an organic cotton reusable tote bag that was made in the USA for under $10?

Would you believe me? Well you better.

I recently recieved this email from a reader named Diane:

"I work for an educational, non-profit organization.  I’m very interested in all of the information on your website.  Right now I have to put my focus on finding a reusable tote bag for our trainers to carry their training supplies.  The specifications for the totes are:

Number of totes: 100+ (would consider ordering larger quantity if it would lower price significantly)
Size:  13” x 15” x 2” or smaller (about 9” x 9” x 2”)
Price:  somewhat flexible, but conservative"

You won't believe the incredible deals I found for her...and they were even locally produced organic cottonrecycled cotton, or organic hemp!

Screw Democracy, Build Your Own OILigarchy

| Comments (1)

It may be your only shot at surviving the end of the world.

If you're in the U.S. and neither one of the candidates are quite working for ya (or, like me, not voting is the only vote you have), why not construct your own system of government?

Why not build an elaborate OILigarchy? (Because democracy is so overrated.)
