OK, it may not be exactly as easy as the title makes it sound, but not far from that.
An innovative solar energy company, Lumeta Inc., has developed “peel ‘n stick” solar panels that have a number of advantages over normal solar panels.
These “peel ‘n stick” solar panels really are quite easy to install. The company website includes a short video walking you through the whole process as well as a 7-point list on how it’s done.
The panels have other benefits as well.
Because they are very light, and because they are not raised above the roof, they do not cause water to pool on the roof, something that can harm both your roof and your solar modules.
Also, given their simplicity, these solar panels can be installed in 60% the time it takes to install normal solar panels and can cut solar installation costs in half.
I don’t think anyone (other than the installer) would complain about that. Maybe it’s time to rethink whether or not solar power is right for you.
I know, now you’re probably wondering, “Well, are these like bandaids, will they stick for a few days and then start to peel off?” (OK, maybe that’s not the analogy you had in your mind… or maybe it was, but this general concern might have crossed your mind.) The panels seem to be quite sticky enough. It is said that they “exceed all wind uplift requirements for roof-mounted solar modules.”
And will they stick to your roof? Probably. The sticky part of the panels is “compatible with metals, modified bitumens (tar) and single-ply roofing membranes.”
If you’re thinking about putting solar panels on our home or business, you might consider looking into peel ‘n stick options.
These definitely look like a cool option to me. At, these peel ‘n stick panels are only sold by Lumeta and you have to buy more than 250 kW. If that doesn’t work for you, other companies, like Whirlpool, have also developed peel and stick solar panels.
Or you could just coat your metal roof in a solar panel spray paint…no kidding.
