Clean water rocks.

Drinking clean, filtered water usually requires a sink-mounted or pitcher type filter, but you could free yourself from your home filter by grabbing a water bottle that does the filtering for you.

Here at The Fun Times Guide to Living Green, we’ve been fortunate enough to test to test 2 filtered water bottles, over the past couple of weeks.

  • Last week, I reviewed the WaterGeeks stainless steel filtered water bottle, a bottle that filters water as you drink it.
  • This week, our buddies over at Hydros Bottle were kind enough to let us try their Hydros water filtering bottle.

The Hydros bottle differs from the WaterGeeks bottle in that it filters water as you pour it into the bottle, not as it comes out.

A BPA-Free Water Bottle

Hydros Bottle is also committed to providing clean water where there isn’t any currently available, not just to thirsty consumers.

The Hydros Bottle is 24 ounces, made in the USA, and is also BPA free.

Do you ever find yourself asking, “BPA free sounds like a good thing, but what does it really mean?”

BPA, the chemical Bisphenol A, is an endocrine disruptor that tricks your body into thinking it is estrogen. This confuses your body’s hormonal system and can lead to health problems and disease.

Call me crazy, but I’m not too big on either of those 2 things, hence the excitement over this BPA free bottle.

For all of you Brita/PUR/etc filter lover’s out there, this bottle is perfect for you. It does the same thing as a traditional sink-mounted or pitcher filter — filtering water as it goes in — yet it is portable.

The bottle resembles a Nalgene type water bottle in that you must screw off the lid to be able to drink the water.

It’s Not Just About The Water

Hydros Bottle is not only providing this convenient, easy to use, BPA free, filtering water bottle, but is also going the extra mile to help those in the village of Gundom, Cameroon.

Hydros has teamed up with Engineers Without Borders USA to help bring this village a water infrastructure that will provide them with clean water to drink. Currently, 40% of the children in this village drink unsafe water from ponds, streams, etc. However, Hydros is allowing you to be a part of this movement to help the people of Gundom.

For every Hydros Bottle bought, $1 goes toward helping the water infrastructure become a reality. This water infrastructure will help provide 2,000 gallons of water to those in need.

So if you’re looking for a bottle to provide you with clean “on the go” water and want to also help the people in Gundom be able to drink clean water, do yourself and them a favor and grab a Hydros bottle.
