Ok. Let’s be honest here…the 4th of July is probably the least eco-friendly holiday on the calendar, right?
And there is one reason, and one reason alone for that…
Fireworks.
So even though eco-friendlier fireworks are making their way into the market, I’m not going to insult your intelligence by telling you that you can make this year a "green 4th of July".
Instead, what I am going to do is share some great ideas with you to that will be sure to help you have green(ER) fun this 4th of July.
It’s true that the "greenest fireworks" are actually no fireworks.
But how much fun is that?

FUN Ways to Have a Green(er) 4th of July
Even if you are going to ooooo and ahhhh over your city’s fireworks show (or maybe even host your own), there are plenty of ways you can keep this 4th of July as green as possible.
- Grill Green: What goes better on the 4th of July than a tasty bbq with friends? Well if you’re going to grill it, why not grill it green? And if you’re going to have a green bbq, don’t miss tasty recipes like these 2 vegetarian grill recipes and The Daily Green’s eco-friendly 4th of July menu.
- Party Green: Inhabitat recommends you take one of my favorite simple steps and rock the biodegradable plastic wear (unless you’re going to use real plates and silverware – which would be better). Check out more of their 5 cheap and easy ideas 4th of July ideas.
- Drink Green: Mother Nature Network (MNN) has some great green 4th of July ideas too. Some of their tips include everything from all-natural bug repellents to the best organic beer suggestions. Check it out!
