What’s a Twestival?
It’s a Twitter festival, and it will help give the world access to clean drinking water.
On February 12th, 175+ cities around the world will hold Twestivals where local Twitter users (and friends) will come together to “tweet, meet, and give”.
The cause?

There are a sad few charities that give 100% of proceeds to their cause…
But Twestival is one of them.
What wil Charity:Water do with the proceeds?
They’ll provide clean drinking water to the 1.1 billion people in the world who don’t have access to it.
Facts and Figures
- Drilling a well can cost from $4,000 – $12,000 USD
- A child dies every 15 seconds of a waterborne disease
- Diarrhea is the second largest cause of child mortality
- 80% or all sickness in the developing world is due to water-related disease
- Each American uses enough water to fill 1600 glasses a day
- In sub-Saharan Africa, women spend 15-17 hrs/week collecting water

My Local Twestival and How to Find Yours
The Nashville Twestival will be taking place at a local dueling piano bar called The Big Bang, and a local Nashville blog called Nashvillest (@Nashvillest on Twitter) is graciously doing the organizing. Obviously, I’ll be there!
The donations will be the cover charge of $10.
