Simple Steps
Everyone knows hanging around a vampire will likely end up in [literally] getting the life sucked out of you.
Why then do we let so many vampires hang around our homes without even a shred of garlic, a piece of silver, or the ever-handy UV light to vanquish them with?
Fear not my friends, for today is National Vampire Awareness Day, as deemed by big box store Best Buy.
Wait, Best Buy??
That's right, because we're not talking about REAL vampires (geez you're gullible), we're talking about electronics that draw vampire load, or sometimes called phantom load.
...and Best Buy wants you to know how to exorcise those phantoms and send the undead back to the ranks of the fully dead for good.
Halloween is just around the corner, but this year, GREEN is the new black.
Oh you don't have to dye your full length vampire cape forrest green, but there are some AMAZINGLY fun, simple, and tasty ways to have a great green-o-ween this year.
There's vegan halloween cupcakes, eco-safe candy, reusable halloween bags, and so much more.
It's an interesting fact that most of us who take steps towards living green by recycling, using products that are less harmful to the environment, and whatever else we can do to keep our world healthy, don't live this lifestyle while on vacation.
Why do many of us completely forget about the environment while on vacation?
We leave the lights on in our rooms when we're not there, we rent a car that guzzles gas, and spews toxins into the air, and many other things without even thinking about it.
Yet when we do these kinds of mindless things while on vacations it has just as much of an impact on the environment as it does if we were to do it while we were at home.
Scary thought isn't it?
However, the good news is that just as we can green our habits at home, we can also green them on vacation.
Ok guys, this one is mostly for us.
Raise your hand if you're the one who goes into the stall to avoid the row-o-urinals in public bathrooms.
Don't be shy...wait a tick, is that the reason you use the stall in the first place?
It's true, that shy bladder could be contributing to that carbon footprint in a big way.
No worries though mates, with all the interesting urinals out there, conserving water was never more fun.
If you've ever really paid attention to what a bottle of laundry detergent or window cleaner costs, you know that overall consumers are spending big money for cleaning products these days.
Greening your cleaning habits is an awesome step, but what if you could make your own cleaning products for pennies, rather than purchasing over-the-top priced cleaning items? As if saving money isn't enough to make you stand up and take notice, how about this:
Making your own cleaning products from natural products you may already have around your home is uber environmentally friendly!
That's right, making your own cleaning products can save you money and be part of your plan to live a greener lifestyle. What's more, they actually work!
We live in a world where most of us are becoming quite concerned about the state of our environment.
We know that our overuse of energy and natural resources is becoming a real problem. Landfills are overflowing, and our air and water sources are becoming seriously polluted.
While there are things being done to help rectify these problems we don't really know if they have been done in time. Even worse, if the damage has already been done, is it too late to go back to the pristine state our environment was once in?
One thing is for sure, all the eco-marketing and greenwashing really doesn't make those simple steps any simpler.
Everyone knows that going green is good for the environment.
To go green means to consciously eliminate habits that cause harm to the environment and to adjust your behavior and lifestyle to have less of an impact on the earth.
It is difficult to exactly pinpoint what going green is, as everyone has a different standard, but the EPA has set list of the Twelve Principals of Green Chemistry. The principals include preventing waste, using fewer chemicals, and increasing energy efficiency.
One would think that going green can be costly, but the opposite is true. While there may be a little upfront expenditure involved, in the end, going green can save you a good bit of money in the end.
