In the last post we talked about the dangers of drinking bottled water. Now that we know why to never again put the neurotoxin filled petroleum-derived containers to our lips, let's talk about what alternatives exist. There are three pretty effective ways to do this. Two of them are easy and inexpensive, the other is a little more involved and will cost a little bit on the front end.

The Bottled Water Scam

What cost more per gallon than gasoline? The answer is bottled water! This time last year earth-policy.org published an article stating, "The global consumption of bottled water reached 154 billion liters (41 billion gallons) in 2004, up 57 percent from the 98 billion liters consumed five years earlier. Even in areas where tap water is safe to drink, demand for bottled water is increasing--producing unnecessary garbage and consuming vast quantities of energy. Although in the industrial world bottled water is often no healthier than tap water, it can cost up to 10,000 times more. At as much as $2.50 per liter ($10 per gallon), bottled water costs more than gasoline."

With Valentine's Day coming up in less than a week, don't forget to send your sweetheart a beautiful bouquet of neurotoxins. You may find yourself in a number of different places on the spectrum of the green conversation, and maybe even sliding up and down the scale until you find where you really want to be, and that's ok. In this post, I'd like to explore some perspectives that exist from the natural, to the meta-physical, and to the religious.

Make a Million Vehicles Vanish

Oh the power. Can you feel it? Let's make one million vehicles vanish from the face of the earth. It's actually easier than you may think. If every household in the United States would replace one incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL), the energy saved would be the equivalent of removing the aforementioned vehicles.
