It's Not Just Your Imagination, Your House IS Haunted

Children are so much more perceptive than we numb adults. They believe in things that our intellect tells us are impossible. The next time your child (if you have any) comes bursting through the door in the middle of the night, screaming about the monster under their bed, believe them.

Luckily, there's a sure fire way to dispose of that ghost or monster that haunts your child's room...and yours. It's simple really. Would you like to know?

Exorcism procedure: Unplug some stuff!

That's right, we're talking about phantom power here (what'd you think we were talking about?). It's real. It's troubling. It's sucking the life out of your wallet and the environment.

4 Ways to Make Your Home Environmentally (and Panda) Friendly

It takes 120 years for a maple tree to grow to maturity and be harvested. It takes bamboo three years. Bamboo is that fastest naturally replenishing resource in the world and does not require replanting, fertilizers, and pesticides. It also acts as a great carbon sequester as it minimizes CO2 gases and generates up to 35% more oxygen than equivalent stand of trees. TreeHugger.com points out that while it is clearly a renewable resource that can contribute to sustainable living, in some cases it may not be managed in the most sustainable way.

As long as we consider and investigate the source of the bamboo, it can be used for many things, from hardwood flooring to bed sheets.

Here are three ideas that accomplish all of those goals.

Make a Million Vehicles Vanish

Oh the power. Can you feel it? Let's make one million vehicles vanish from the face of the earth. It's actually easier than you may think. If every household in the United States would replace one incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL), the energy saved would be the equivalent of removing the aforementioned vehicles.

Expanding Your Green Vocabulary

Making the decision to get involved in the environmental conversation and to go green can feel much like stepping into a new world altogether, including in vernacular. RenewableEnergyWorks.com has a great vocabulary resource that will greatly aid in your familiarity, and hence, productivity with the green conversation.
