If the Woods Are So Great, Why Do Bears Shit in Them?

Will environmental policies impact the way you vote in this year's presidential election?

This hilarious video from HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher reveals some scary statistics.

Note: If some colorful language, including the f-bomb, offends you, this may not be your video. There, you've been warned.

To Inflate OR to Drill, That is the Question

| Comments (4)

Obama says Americans should inflate our tires to the proper level.

McCain says Americans should drill offshore.

Which plan is more beneficial?

Well, that depends on what you think is beneficial. If you think spending billions of dollars setting up offshore drilling that will further foster our dependence on fossil fuels, destroy marine life, and not make a difference until about the year 2030, then you should go the McCain route.

If you want a difference (environmentally AND financially) RIGHT NOW, today, for free, check out Obama's energy plan.

Here's a video that helps explain it, via ClimateProgress.org:

Eco-Confession Time: I'm a Water Waster

| Comments (9)

wasting-water-large.jpgIt's true. I am. I'm a water waster. I waste water in all the worst ways.

I swear. The sound of running water is so intoxicating to me. I think I really have some sort of weird complex.

I leave it running while I brush my teeth (while simultaneously letting the shower heat up--like in the pic).

I even have this weird thing where I "have" to have the sink facuet on while I'm "taking care of business"...if ya get my drift. I know, I'm a freak. Someone send the nice men in white jackets.

Seriously though, the EPA says that although 2/3 of our planet is water, only about 1% is available for human use!! So how have I begun to change my water wasting ways? One step at a time...that's how.

Every Day is Earth Day...and it STARTS With Our Children

| Comments (0)

every-day-is-earth-day1.jpgIf we continue to misuse our planet's resources and allow it to continue in its spiraling descent into oblivion, who will be the ones to suffer?

As a guy in my mid 20's I'll feel alot of the pain, but it'll be those much younger than even me who bear the brunt of the damage we're inflicting today...

...and all because we're just lazy.

In celebration of Earth Day today, I was extended the privilege to speak to a couple of 3rd grade classes at a local elementary school.

World Water Day: Fix a Drip to Give a Sip

world-water-day.jpgLooking for ways to conserve some precious clean water this World Water Day (which is today)?

There are an infinite number of ways of simple, easy, and mostly free ways to do so.

Sure, the purpose of World Water Day is to conserve the commodity of fresh water on this planet, but are you a bad person if you don't?

Not in my opinion.

I'm simply here to pass on some ways to accomplish the "how" if water conservation today, or any other day, is something that moves you to action.

One thing is for sure, the reality of how valuable fresh water is sure was recognized by many of us here in the Southeastern US this past summer, with an unprecedented drought!

I can't imagine what it'd be like to live without it all the time.

Save a Forest or 100,000 People's Jobs: The Disposable Chopstick Dilemma

| Comments (0)

snapstix.jpgWhat's the newest item on the chopping block of bannings?

Disposable chopsticks.

The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that people all over China, from pop stars to environmental groups, are jumping on the bandwagon to ban disposable chopsticks.

When this story was first passed on to me, I thought, "Seriously, how big of an impact could they really have?".

So what kind of impact do they have, how many people's jobs depend on them, and just how big of an industry is it?

The answers will blow your mind--they sure did mine!

The Cosmos Recycles, Why Don't We?

| Comments (2)

death-star-trail.jpgIf we don't save our planet, the universe will create a new one...but humans won't inhabit it.

It's true, this feeble rock we call home is our one and only shot. We should all take a lesson from dying stars 400 times the size of our sun and do a bit of recycling.

Oh you didn't know that stars traveling 80 miles per second recycle? You'd be surprised...
