Recycling = The Anal Retentive's Dreamland

recycling-fail.jpg Apparently sorting your recycling is quite similar to getting aquainted with a new dog...if you were a dog too.

Ha ha.

I saw this ad at the FailBlog a while back and knew I had to hang on to it for some funny Friday comic relief.

Actually, the info on the ad is quite helpful...i just can't believe no one caught the, uh, angle from which it could (and would) be seen!

When I first saw this it actually reminded me of this great "Little Johnny" joke from my childhood--he he he.

I bet you'll never look at recycling the same way again.

*Remember, recycling isn't foreplay, but it's still VERY important!*

Seriously though, I can get pretty anal retentive myself when it comes to the sorting of recycling.

Just this morning I took all of my pre-sorted (cuz I rule like that) recycling to the recycling center and saw many items either in the wrong bins and others that aren't even recyclable at all.

Ugh.

Oh well, points to all those good people that were making an effort--which is a step in the right direction--and any step is a good one, as far as I'm concerned.

Always be sure to check Earth911's recycling tool to find out where to recycle various items near you.

So remember, whatever great green activities you get in to this weekend, have FUN! As for me, I'll be at my local Earth Day Festival tomorrow. w00t!

oooo. awesome tip heather! just earlier today i read a story at TreeHugger.com about how people think the numbers 1-7 that you see inside the little recycling triangle on the bottom of plastic products means that number can be recycled. wrong!

nice tip on how to keep things sorted. I'll see if i can find a cool downloadable chart and post it later!

Too funny. I too, am a bit anal...retentive that is when it comes to sorting the recycling. Washing out the containers is a HUGE must for me. I also keep a handy reminder on my fridge of what numbers are o.k. to recycle. I use it frequently. Might be a good reminder to share for the folks who don't know :)
