Coffee and Art: A Clever Way to Help Local Charities
So you want to "give back" during the holiday season but don't have the extra cash spare?
Not a problem.
Follow in the footsteps of CREMA, my favorite indy owned, local, estate coffee serving coffee shop here in Nashville.
The coffee connoisseurs of CREMA wanted to help out a local charity this Christmas, but didn't necessarily want to kill their profit margin either...you know, cuz paying bills and eating is pretty important to small business owners.
Check out how they found a solution that you or your favorite local haunt could duplicate.
In their idea, a deserving family, local artists, a local non-profit, thei rpatrons and their business all win. Can't beat that.
CREMA has opened up a vacant parcel next door to them to host the artwork of local artists.
25% of the profits from the artwork until December 12th go to benefit the Safe Haven Family Shelter, a local non-profit here in Nashville that helps hurting family units get back on their feet.
The artwork is of course the creations of several uber-talented local artists: Thomas Petillo, Stacie Berry, Aaron Grayum, and Janet K. Lee.
Though it may have started out as a simple idea, things tend to take off beyond your wildest imagination. Hyperactive local website, Nashvillest, and nationwide humanitarian site, CoolPeopleCare, both syndicated CREMA's Christmas campaign.
Here's a sampling of the artwork showcased in CREMA:
Can you think of any local haunts or businesses that you could present a similar idea to for the holiday season? Oh, and yes that is my personal CREMA coffee mug...and no, you can't have it.
