April 2007 Archives
Ever wondered how much energy is consumed and CO2 is produced by all those lights on the Las Vegas strip?
Yeah, it's A LOT!
I've just returned from a business trip to Vegas and though I did get the obligatory touristy picture with one of the ten thousand Elvis (or would it be "Elvi", plural?) I found myself unable to cease wondering how much power is consumed by all those lights, glitz, and glam.
What could by more Earth Day-ish than a beautiful little girl playing with a furry caterpillar at an Earth Day festival? Answer: NOTHING!
I ran into a very old friend whom I haven't seen in years at my local Earth Day Festival yesterday here in Nashville, TN, and I was lucky enough to snap this great shot of his daughter.
Check out these other great pics from the Nashville Earth Day Festival...
With the launch of it's new and growing Eco Options line of products, The Home Depot is making more strides towards saving and preserving our environment than any other home repair retailer in the world. On Sunday April, 22nd, which is Earth Day, The Home Depot will give away 1,000,000 free CFL's!
Oh, did you just hear that? That was the sound of our excuses being snatched away from us.
Did you know that Earth Day is coming up on Sunday? Here in Nashville, TN there is a free festival all day long on Saturday in celebration of the holiday and I'd bet there's one close to you as well. In fact, EarthDay.net provides a search feature to locate the nearest festival or event to you! Check it out.
If you read certain websites or watch certain shows, you've no doubt heard of Earth Day and already knew that it was Sunday. But what is Earth Day? Why do we celebrate it? How much fun can a person actually have at an Earth Day festival or party?
Let's find out...
This past week my wife and I have been in Northwest Arkansas for a family emergency situation. While there, we stopped in a gas station to "take care of some business" and I snapped this picture with my cell's camera.
The owner of this gas station seems to be a little unsure as to which light bulb is best. So which is it? CFL (compact fluorescent lamp), incandescent, or no bulb at all? Can you help him out?
If you're anything like me, when you hear something in the news about global warming, going green, and saving the environment, you always come back to this:
"Gosh, they're right. What should I be doing to help?"
Even if it's just one small thing -- one simple way to make an ever-so-slight difference -- what would that be?
